MADHOUSE has released a teaser trailer for the Blade anime.

The TV series will premier on July 1st in Japan and is the fourth and final one from Madhouse based on Marvel’s superheroes. Previous entries were Wolverine, X-men and Iron Man.

Directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Chi’s Sweet Home, Kobato), the story will revolve around Blade, a “Daywalker” vampire hunter who was born with vampire and human blood after a vampire attacked his mother.

The anime series will see Blade visiting Japan on a mission and tracking down Deacon Frost, the vampire who killed his mother. Oh and  it’s not just Deacon Blade would have to deal with though as he’ll confront “Existence,” a mysterious organization composed of vampires modified by Frost.

Maaya Sakamoto (Kingdom hearts, .hack) and Osamu Saka (Ghost in the Shell, Metal Gear Solid 2), also star as Makoto and Noah Van Helsing, respectively.

Heard of the anime Bokurano?

Directed by Hiroyuki Morita (The Cat Returns) and produced by Gonzo, the anime aired in 2007 in Japan and is based on the manga series Bokurano: Ours.

But it isn’t a direct adaption of the manga, as Hiroyuki did make changes for the anime series.

So what is the anime about? well it’s a science fiction one about a group of middle-school students who unwillingly assume the task of piloting a giant mecha named Zearth in a series of battles against mechas from parallel worlds. And, yeah there are massive things at stake, i’m talking the survival of Earth so they have to keep winning each battle.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy is a manga series written and illustrated by Takayuki Yamaguchi. The first 32 chapters have been adapted into an anime.

Produced by Madhouse Studios (Beyblade, Ninja Scroll, Trigun), the series was directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and written by Seishi Minakami.

The series is famously noted for its realistic graphic violence and nudity, (sorry folks, it’s adults only!).

The anime releases on blu-ray and dvd boxsets this May and to celebrate, here’s an awesome trailer:

The light novel To Aru Hikuushi he no Tsuioku (Recollection of a Certain Professional Airship) by Inumura Koroku is being turned into an anime movie.

Madhouse Studios (Redline, Summer Wars) will do the adaption and it will be a love story taking place in a world divided between two powers at war. The focus will be on issues such as empathy and love between people of different social status.

The production staff are all veterans who worked on popular series such as Appleseed, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo and Sakura Wars.

The anime will utilise a mix of CG and traditional 2D anime. When will the movie be out? well it will go on general exhibition in the second half of 2011.

The official site for K-ON! anime franchise has aired the first teaser trailer for the K-ON! movie and you can check it out below.

The movie will depict a brand new story not told in the television series and follow the five female members of Sakuragaoka High School’s music club while still at high school.

The original television voice cast and staff are all back to reprise their roles, and so is Naoko Yamada to direct and Kyoto Animation to produce the film.

The movie will open in 130 theaters across Japan this December 3rd.

Manga Entertainment has confirmed via twitter that the release date of Evangelion 2.22 is no longer May 30 anymore. It’s now June 20 :’(

Oh well, like the old saying goes..“everything comes to those who wait..” right? RIGHT?!

Ever since i got my copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion 1.11, i’ve been waiting for Evangelion  2.22 to get released. It has been months and thanks to twitter, i was able to read a  follower tweet about how he pre-ordered a copy through play.com

Like a spontanous rabbit hopping out of a boiling pan, i went to play.com and yup, there it was, release date May 30th! did i pre-order? f*** yeah i did!

Those of you wondering what the hell Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.22 is? well Hideaki Anno, considered the father of Neon Genesis Evangelion decided to remake the entire anime series and release them as four movies. The first three films will cover the entire series with new scenes, settings, and characters all the while using the latest technology. The fourth and final film is a completely new conclusion to the story.

Don’t worry, Hideaki Anno isn’t Spielberg or Lucas, he won’t ruin his famous series! (well i hope not..). Anyway, Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.22 is the second movie of the planned four. Here’s the trailer and yup, the movies are all in high definition (oooo puurdy)

This Monday (25th April) will see the release of Outlaw Star in the UK. The 5 disc DVD boxset will contain all 26 episodes of the space action anime.

Outlaw Star is produced by Sunrise, the same company behind Cowboy Bebop and the plot follows outlaw Gene Starwind and his 11-year-old business associate, James “Jim” Hawking. Together they run a small jack-of-all-trades business on the backwater planet Sentinel III.

After the two take a job as bodyguards for a mysterious outlaw named ”Hot Ice” Hilda, they find themselves the owners of a highly advanced prototype spacecraft, the XGP15A-II (nicknamed the “Outlaw Star”), and the caretakers of a bio-android named Melfina, the only one capable of interfacing with the ship.

As per the wishes of Hilda, Gene and his crew make it their goal to seek out and find the “Galactic Leyline”, a location shrouded in myth and fueled by rumors and superstition. Popular claims say that it is a holder of immense treasure of valuable metals or minerals, possibly the very rare material called “dragonite”.

During their adventures, the crew of the Outlaw Star travels to a number of different planets and encounter a variety of humanoid extraterrestrials, space pirates, and many others also seeking the Galactic Leyline.

Here’s a trailer for Kamisama Dolls titled ”Girls Side”.

So what is Kamisama Dolls about?  Hajime Yamamura’s original supernatural action manga centered around Kyohei, a college student who grew up in a village that worshiped figureheads named kakashi as gods.

Kyohei abandoned his hometown when he moved to Tokyo and immersed himself in college life. However, he learns from his younger sister Utao that a fugitive named Aki from his hometown has arrived in Tokyo (with his kakashi at hand) and is responsible for a horrific crime that Kyohei had just witnessed. That sets off the manga.

The anime will premier this summer in Japan.

Eureka Seven, known in the land of the rising sun as Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN is a mecha anime series by the production company, Bones (Angelic Layer, Ouran High School Host Club, Wolf’s Rain).

50 episodes were made and today (18th April) a movie has been released on both blu-ray and DVD titled Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young lovers.

What is it about? The plot is the same as the TV series, shortened and made as a film. It deals with Renton, a son of scientists and Eureka, a girl who can’t live under the sun. They are raised together from a young age and are very attached to each other.

Nothing so peaceful ever lasts and one day, Eureka is taken away. Renton vows to rescue her and enters the military. He’s assigned to the Independent Youths Unit 303 due to his exceptional performance alongside his Nirvash (yup, a bio-mechanical armor/control system)

So in addition to rescuing Eureka, there’s an alien invasion and a plot that connects him and Eureka too. Sounds like an awesome anime show right? it is, and you can check out a trailer below:

Fans of the TV show might be wondering, “hmm is the film better than the TV series?”.  Andrew Osmond of MangaUK ran a post answering that very thought. Here’s a snippet:

So which version is the best starting-point? The series is simpler, but takes more time – twenty-odd hours – and reveals its plot very slowly. In contrast, the film is heavily plotted, not so much because it compresses the TV story, but because it’s doing lots of other things.

It takes motifs from the series – for example, books of blank pages that must be filled – but converts them to its own distinctive theme, about how dreams help or hinder growing up. The story itself takes mighty leaps into dream logic in later scenes.

The film wrongfoots fans who’ve seen the show by changing everyone’s hats around, squeezing characters together and bumping off regulars for kicks. Consequently, TV Eureka fans may be more confused by the film than newbies. We’d suggest starting with whichever Eureka you fancy, but either way, come to the film version prepared to focus.
